Co-Treatment Programs
 
At the SuperSpeech & Language Connection, we have found that the Speech/Language and Occupational Therapy co-treatment method is much more efficient and effective than an individual therapeutic model.  It is specifically designed for children who have needs in the areas speech, language, social/pragmatics and occupational therapy.  In addition, this co-treatment model adds to the fun of the therapy session and helps to avoid the therapy "burn-out" that can happen from having busy schedules.
 
Our Co-Treatment Offerings:
 
Language 'n Motion
A functional play based program where movement facilitates social interaction.
 
This unique program is designed to address the motor planning and self regulatory needs of children while facilitating overall language development. In a relaxed, safe and motivating environment, Language 'n Motion focuses on the development and improvement of the following skills:
 
  • Self Regulation
  • Praxis/Motor Planning
  • Imitation of Movement
  • Social Interaction/Reciprocal Play
  • Receptive and Expressive Language
  • Balance/Rhythmic Movement
  • Muscle Strength and Coordination
  • Direction Following and Transitions
  • Visual Perception/Perceptual Motor Skills
  • Balance
  • Problem Solving/Executive Functioning/Organization
 
Language 'n Motion meets weekly for 1.5 hours for 10 weeks.  Children receive direct instruction during that time from both an OT and SLP.  Groups are formed based on the individual strengths, "stretches" and age of each child.  Specific goals are established at the beginning of the 10 week program with feedback provided throughout the program.  Your child's therapy is a team approach between therapists and families therefore at the end of each 90 minute session, 10 minutes of open consultation with parents is provided to discuss progress and implementation of the home carry-over programs that we provide for you.
 
For children 6-12 years
 
 
Play & Say
A play based sensory & social program for curious minds.

Play & Say is a fun, interactive group which addresses the social language and developmental skills necessary to play more physical playground activities often seen at school.  The group is beneficial for all children however the activities are specifically designed to address concerns in the following areas: 

  • eye hand coordination 
  • low muscle tone 
  • motor planning skills bilateral extremity
  • coordination and strength

Through play and motor activities, the Play & Say program facilitates social interactions which encourage appropriate peer relations within group games.  Children develop and use the language necessary for initiating, turn taking, joining in, waiting and conflict resolution. 
 
This group meets weekly for 10 weeks for 1.5 hour per session with 10 minutes of open consultation with parents after the session.
 
For children ages 3-5years


Speech & Occupational Therapy Co-Treatment
 
A Speech & Language Pathologist and an Occupational Therapist join forces for a 1-hour co-treatment therapy session. This approach fosters the development of both language and movement.  Goals are specific to the individual however clients have experienced improvement in the following areas:
 
  • Language: Therapists help with articulation, expressive and receptive language development and in social/pragmatic skills/language.
 
  • Sensory Processing: Using swings, trampolines, suspension equipment and other gym equipment, therapists help develop a child's muscle strength, postural control, motor planning and arousal level stability.
 
  • Gross Motor Skills: Therapists help to increase broad muscle movements such as walking, running, climbing, jumping and balance.
 
  • Fine Motor Skills: Therapists develop a child's ability to complete detailed day-to-day tasks such as handwriting, eating and dressing.
